Deductible and Physical Therapy
Deductible and Physical Therapy

We now offer information about Deductibles and Physical Therapy at Orthocare Physical Therapy Center!

Understanding health insurance can be difficult, and you may not know where to turn for help. At Orthocare Physical Therapy Center we are happy to provide information about Deductible and Physical Therapy. As the new year begins, we would like to bring to your attention the term “Deductible”.

What is a Deductible?

A deductible in health insurance refers to a specified amount of money that the insured (you, the client) must pay before an insurance company will pay a claim.

If your plan has a deductible, you will be responsible for the amount regardless of where you seek healthcare or what medical service you seek.

My plan has a deductible. How much do I pay per visit?

As you know, we courteously contact your insurance before you begin Physical Therapy (PT) to check on your benefits.

If your plan has a deductible for PT, you will become responsible for the cost of PT until the deductible is met.

Please know that exact charges per visit vary based on the treatment during that visit as well as contracted rates per insurance. Therefore, if we are notified about the deductible during our verification, we will request that you pay a set amount per visit towards your deductible.

This is our attempt to make sure you are not surprised with a big balance after the insurance processes our claims.

Do I pay a higher deductible if I get Physical Therapy at Orthocare?

A deductible is not unique to Orthocare PT services.

If applicable, you will be responsible for the same total amount wherever you seek PT. We like to maintain transparency and collect each time to minimize surprises. We are not in the business of collecting the minimum amount in person only to send you a big surprise bill after treatment completion.

I already paid towards the deductible each time. Why is there an additional balance?

Once the claims get processed by your insurance (~30-45 days), we will become aware of whether the amount you paid towards the deductible was adequate. If there is any balance due, we will provide you with a statement for the amount owed to us.

Please understand that despite our best efforts during insurance verification, we may occasionally not be notified clearly about whether a deductible applies to your plan.

In such cases, you may be responsible for a larger ending balance.

We always encourage our clients to be educated consumers to prevent this from happening. So, we encourage you to contact your insurance so that you can also verify the details yourself and be better informed about deductibles and physical therapy.

Looks like I paid more than I should have. What now?

Once the claims get processed by the insurance, if it so happens that you overpaid towards the deductible, we will promptly issue you a refund check.
